Japanese Vibes Night

Cornelius is the Japanese sonic-wunderkind and brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Keigo Oyamada. Cornelius’ live shows are known around the world for spectacular visuals (all perfectly synchronized to the performance), custom lighting that doesn't simply augment the performance, but becomes another instrument within it, and a full band of equally talented and diverse players. He is known as a world-class remixer who has lent his talents to Blur, Beck, Bloc Party, Empire of the Sun, Gotye and more.

starRo is the moniker of Grammy nominated R&B producer Shinya Mizoguchi. His debut album Monday was released world wide October 20, 2016 and subsequently rose to the top of the charts in Japan. In 2016 he became the first Grammy nominated producer from Japan, rising him to fame in his country of origin. Uproxx later wrote, "starRo may well be one of the first, true SoundCloud producers to be nominated for a Grammy." The LA-based, Japanese-born producer also became the first to host a Beats1 Radio show focused on Tokyo culture. Since then, he produced for a number of Japanese and Korean R&B/Hip Hop stars including the Korean group Common Cold (Mad Clown and Justhis) called "WASH!WASH!" which went to number 3 in Korea and received critical acclaim in Korea.

TAIKOPROJECT first made waves when they became the first American taiko group to win the prestigious Tokyo International Taiko Contest in 2005, besting all of the Japanese taiko groups in the competition. That year, they were cast in the Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial, the first and still only national advertising campaign to prominently feature taiko. Since then, the group has performed on the Academy Awards, the Grammy Awards, NBC's "The Voice," Syfy's Face/Off, The X-Factor, rock band 30 Seconds to Mars' "Up in the Air" music video, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, the iHeartRadio Music Festival, and were honored with the prestigious Visionary Award from East West Players.

Twilight on the Pier

Twilight on the Pier is the free weekly music festival as iconic as the Pier itself. Now in it’s 35th consecutive year, Twilight continues the long-standing tradition of celebrating emerging and established artists and sounds from around the world. Featuring art, an all new comedy stage, eats, wine and beer garden, games and interactive activations.

Twilight's "Local Meets Global" theme celebrates different cultural soundscapes, mixing classic world music with pop jams and indie folk. We're highlighting artists who live and create in different countries, as well as artists who draw inspiration from those countries but live in LA, in an effort to provide our audience with a deeper understanding of what world music has to offer, and how it influences artists right here at home.
