Description

Exploratory vibraphonist and composer Nick Mancini heads up a cutting-edge ensemble. A program comprised primarily of Mancini’s original compositions, along with a couple of choice jazz standards, creates the fertile soil from which spontaneous, unfettered, and incisive arrangements continually spring forth; all the while done with the energy and enigmatic flare indicative of a “Mancini” performance.

Description

Jazz at LACMA

Great jazz music outside at the courtyard near the main entrance (behind the Urban Lights display) at LACMA. Jazz at LACMA features the art of jazz as practiced by leading Southern California artists. Celebrating over twenty years at LACMA, the program continues to be one of the museum’s most recognizable offerings. Jazz at LACMA is a celebration of L.A.’s finest jazz musicians and has featured such legends as Wayne Shorter, John Clayton, Kenny Burrell, Les McCann, Billy Childs, Arturo Sandoval, Cannonball-Coltrane Project, and Ernie Watts. Over 42,000 visitors attend the program annually from April through November, on Friday nights from 6pm-9pm.

Show up early as it can get very crowded. And you can bring a blanket, chairs and a picnic if you want to sit further back in the grassy areas.
